BANKING & KICKING...
ALL BANKING MEASURMENTS ARE TAKEN AT OR BETWEEN DIAMONDS, NOT BESIDE THE CUSHION IN FRONT OF THE DIAMONDS, ALL MY NUMBERS ARE BETWEEN THE DIAMONDS ON ALL RAILS...
Banks or kicks hit harder will rebound shorter, hit softer they will rebound longer, therefore when banking hard more cut or more english is necessary, when banking easy ( shooting softly ) a more full hit and little or no english may be utilized.
When kicking hard you will have to practice hitting the rail at a steeper angle than normal as it will rebound shorter than normal. Kicking softly, practice less angle into rail as it will come off the rail at a longer angle than normal.
All shots in this lesson are hit medium firm speed, unless otherwise stipulated.
All natural banks hit with at least 1&1/4 tips of outside english.
All natural kicks hit with at least 1/4 tip of inside ( running ) english, usually the amount equal to the exact opposite portion of the cb / rail cp ( contact point ).
Examples; 1 / cb hitting rail near center of cb, tip should strike cb at exact equal opposite cb center.
2
/ cb is hitting the rail with the outside edge, tip should strike cb on the opposite
inside edge.
This is done not to change the spin of the cb, but to assist it in its already natural flowing direction... Jimmy

Aiming through the diamonds forces you to double the distance on banks, here I'm aiming through the ob from 26 on my rail - through 13 on the far rail, you can't figure it wrong. The distance from the pocket you're banking into should always double the distance on the rail being banked off of... |

From 2.6 diamonds above the pocket, looking through 1.3 diamonds above the other corner pocket, I know if I hit the ob there with 1tip rc english and medium speed, the ob will or should bank into the crosscorner pocket... |
 |
From 4.0 ( 40 ) through 2.0 ( 20 ).
Remember, when kicking use inside english - toward the direction of the kick. Banking an ob uses the exact same measurements only with one more tip of the opposite english. English changes with every additional ob being banked as in combination banks... |
